The Governance Institute for Directors signed with the Iraq Private Banks league a memorandum of understanding in the city of Erbil to enhance corporate governance practices in the banking sector, raise awareness of its importance, and increase the capacity of banking institutions in line with global requirements in order to serve the banking sector.

The agreement was signed on the one hand by the Governance Institute for Directors Bushra Al-Amin while on the one hand by the Iraq Private Banks League Executive Director Ali Tariq, in the presence of the League’s President Professor Wadih Al-Handal and former Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers Mahdi Al-Alaq and Director General of the non-governmental organisations Department in the Kurdistan Region, Akram Muhammad Jammu in addition to a number of local and international institutions such as the Central Bank of Iraq and the World Bank.
